Join us on Holy Wednesday April 16, 2025 at 5:30 pm in the Chapel of Holy Communion below the sanctuary for a solemn service of scripture and prayers by candlelight. Tenebrae is the Latin word for “darkness” or “shadows”. The service consists of chants of Lamentations, After each psalm is recited, one of 14 candles is extinguished until the end of the service when only the Christ candle remains lit.
Enter the Chapel of Holy Communion from the Memorial Garden on the side of the church off Locust Street. Tenebrae provides an extended meditation and serves as a prelude to the events in our Lord’s life between the Last Supper (Maundy Thursday) and the Resurrection (Easter Sunday).
Note the service does not include Communion or a Sermon. The Reverend Martha Harris, Pastor, and The Reverend Hank Morrow, Deacon will preside. Meditative music will be provided by Father Rick Bauer, Rector, St. Edward’s Episcopal Church. All are welcome.
